Nitin Desai Funeral: Late Art Director’s Initial Autopsy Report State ‘Death By Hanging,’ Last Rites To Be Conducted On Friday- Reports
Renowned art director Nitin Desai’s sudden passing left the nation in shock. He took his life on August 2nd, a few days before his 58th birthday. He was found hanging in the ND Studios, located in Khalapur Raigarh near Karjat by his employees. While the police are still investigating the matter, if reports are to be believed he was struggling financially and had a debt of over Rs 250 crores. 

As per the latest development, reported by Loksatta, his postmortem was conducted by a team of four doctors at the JJ Hospital on Wednesday. The leading Marathi publication states that as per the preliminary findings in his autopsy, the cause of death was due to hanging. According to the Raigad police, further investigation of the matter is underway. It is to be noted that the police haven’t found any suicide note but they have found some audio recordings. It is also being reported that Desai’s mortal remains reached Mumbai, on Wednesday evening. His last rites will take place at ND Studios on Friday, August 4, after his kids arrive in India from America. His family is yet to release an official statement on his untimely demise. Born in Dapoli, he studied at the J.J. School of Art and L.S.Raheja School Of Arts and trained in photography before he joined the film industry. His work started gaining recognition with the Vidhu Vinod Chopra directorial 1942 A Love Story, which starred Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Manisha Koirala in lead roles. 

From then on he went on to art directed classic movies like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Devdas (2002), Lagaan (2001), Jodhaa Akbar (2008), Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015) and many more. He has been awarded with the National Film Award for Best Art Direction four times and the Filmfare Best Art Direction Award three times in his career.

TheMarathi and Hindi entertainment industry took to their official social media handles to mourn his loss and condole his family.
